The 6th Bangalore Fashion Week held in the first week of February ushered in the Spring-Summer 2012 collections.
Here’s a look at some of the styles we loved and how you can make them your own.
From darkness to light!
The varying hues of the sky from night to the break of dawn have been inspirational for designer Ramesh Dembla’s ‘Dawn to Dusk’ collection. The designs start out with dark colours featuring an interesting use or Gossamer / spider-silk fabrics to create dimensions to black gowns which look quite riveting.
The layers on these dresses remind me of this fabulous Jealous 21 women casual top I bought online at Myntra.com. It has a sensuous cowl neck which adds to the depth of the garment. Perfect for evening wear!
The collection also featured bright sarees in sunrise yellow, orange and red. All out with the colours of the summer skies!
These shades remind me of all the cheerful apparel and accessories I bought when I shopped online recently.
With love, from Africa
Designer Mustafa Hassan Ali brought in the fabrics, cuts and tribal embellishments inspired by the coast of East Africa. The collection is modern and chic with feminine silhouettes and exaggerated head gear!
Bring out your beads and semi-precious stones this Spring-Summer and create some tribal magic! Funky, sensuous and sophisticated – here are three different types of looks inspired from Africa from ASOS with bead-work and studded tops.
The Ritu Beri collection was a total show stopper! This renowned designer decided to go with a modern take on traditional Indian ethnic wear, with inspiration drawn from different phases of her life. Her ‘Summerleas’ collection featured bold colors interspersed with lighter tones in kurtas, ghagra-cholis, tunics, salwars and churidars. These beauties are made from a range of fabrics such as silk, satin, lace, cotton and embellished with sequin braids, zardosi and even Swarovski crystals!
Laces, embroidery, zardosi and my favourite, intricate florals! They’re all there. It’s easy to find these looks off the runway with a quick search through leading online shopping stores in India. I love the variety of branded clothes, shoes and accessories available online. Shopping is so convenient that I can buy my favorites in no time!
The Bangalore Fashion Week had several more designers like Mohit Falood, Prabhat Kumar, Parul Grover and Tona Gupta, who enthralled everyone with new elements of fashion design and re-inventions as well!
So go for it, create your own combinations of the classic and contemporary. Re-invent your style and watch your fashion quotient hit new highs this summer!
